Shopping

Inspired by the images of our, landscape, Island artists and craftspeople create hand-stitched quilts, pottery bowls, intricate woodworking and woven tapestries. Dozens of shops, from quaint to sophisticated, are dotted across the Island. If you are visiting in late September, you will certainly want to take part in the annual Studio Tour, but you may wish to use the Studio Tour Guide to help you plot shopping excursions any time of year. Look for copies at any Visitor Information Centre, or visit our crafts section.

In addition to the wide range of traditional craft products such as pottery, weaving or knitting you may find some unusual products in the many shops scattered across the province. Look for handmade soaps, sandcrafts, folk furniture, hammocks, Mi'kmaq figurines or puppets.

While visiting the Confederation Centre of the Arts, which houses eastern Canada's largest gallery, don't forget to drop in to the first-rate gift shop, as well as the Art Sales and Rental office which carries a large selection of works by local artists.

We also have great down-town areas and malls in major communities as well as the fun atmosphere of boardwalk boutiques and summer shopping outlets in places like Cavendish.

You can also drop by one of our Farmers' Markets located in Charlottetown, Kensington, Wood Islands and Summerside and enjoy the wonderful selection of local and organic fresh produce, flowers, arts and crafts as well as freshly made coffee and baked goods.

If you're in the market for lots of fun and you enjoy hunting for hidden treasures, you've come to the right place. Take a moment to browse through these links to plan your shopping trip.
