Notice regarding the official Trade-mark index

Publication Date: 2000-04-26

Effective May 1st, 2000, the paper trade-mark index cards and register books will be removed from the public search room. The Abandoned and Expunged index cards prior to 1980 and the original Trade Mark and Design Act (TMDA) registers, which are not in the database, will be maintained and will be accessible to the public.

As indicated in the respective Trade-marks Journals of June 2, 1999 and May 21, 1997, the official index is the trade-marks database on the CIPO Intranet site and the official register is the INTREPID database.

While the public access to the paper index cards and register books has been allowed during the cross-check quality assurance project, with the completion of this project these paper records will be removed.
