New Indexing Terms as of January 30, 2004

These English terms have been modified to correct errors:

  • “CD-ROMS” has been changed to “CD-ROMs”
  • “CEGEPS” has been changed to “CÉGEPs”

These French terms have been modified to correct errors:

  • “Langues d’orgines” has been changed to “Langue d'origine"
  • “Conditions atmosphériques” has been changed to “Temps”
  • “Indemnité” has been changed to “Allocation”

A few terms that were “preferred terms” (terms to be used for indexing), have been demoted to lead-in or “non-preferred” terms. The following English terms have been modified:

  • “Coastguard” has been demoted from a Preferred Term to a Non-Preferred Term. See “Coast guard”.
  • “Compact discs” has been has been promoted from a Non-Preferred Term to a Preferred Term.
  • “Consultation” has been removed as a Non-Preferred Term. “Consultations” has been added as a Preferred Term.
  • “Document classification” has been demoted from Preferred Term to a Non-Preferred Term. See “Cataloguing”.
  • “Drama” has been promoted from a Non-Preferred Term to a Preferred Term.
  • “Glacier” has been removed as a Non-Preferred Term. “Glaciers” has been added as a Preferred Term.
  • “International travel” has been promoted from a Non-Preferred Term to a Preferred Term.
  • “Older adults” has been changed from a Preferred Term to a Non-Preferred Term. See “Seniors”. “Seniors” has been promoted from a Non-Preferred Term to a Preferred Term.
  • “Theatre” has been demoted from a Preferred Term to a Non-Preferred Term. See “Drama”, “Theatres”.
  • “Transplants” has been demoted from a Preferred Term to a Non-Preferred Term. See “Transplantation”.
