Training & Education
Training and education need to be an ongoing part of your emergency management program. Once the emergency plan is completed, the heads of departments and agencies must ensure that all individuals identified within the emergency plan are familiar with their designated tasks.
PEI EMO designs and delivers high quality and low cost emergency management courses and speciality workshops to local and provincial government officials, emergency response personnel, public interest groups and the private sector representatives who have an emergency management responsibility in the event of an emergency or disaster.
Basic Emergency Management Course
The Basic Emergency Management Course is three days in length and the content is nationally recognized and will serve as the prerequisite for all specialized training offered at the Canadian Emergency Preparedness College and nationally recognized courses offered by other provincial/territorial Emergency Measures Organizations.
Canadian Emergency Management College
Advanced training is offered at the Canadian Emergency Management College (CEMC) in Ottawa, Ontario. The college presently offers the following three advanced courses which all require the Basic Emergency Preparedness Course as a prerequisite:
- Emergency Site Management
- Emergency Operations Centre Management
- Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear First Responder Training Program
Applications to attend courses must be made on the CEMC Application for Course Enrolment Form. Forms can be obtained at the office of PEI EMO.
