Governments of Canada and PEI to Research and Monitor Risks of Pesticides Used in Agriculture

The Honourable David Anderson, Canada's Minister of the Environment, and the Honourable Jamie Ballem, Minister of Environment and Energy for Prince Edward Island, today announced that the governments of Canada and PEI will work in cooperation with a number of partners over the next two years to conduct agricultural pesticide research and monitoring programs in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. Hurricane Isabel Storm Summary

Hurricane Isabel formed in the central Atlantic Ocean on September 6th, 2003. Isabel first moved on a west-northwest track and eventually westward north of the Caribbean and Bahamas. During that period the hurricane maintained the most severe category 5 status on two separate occasions and was at least a category 4 storm for several days from September 9th to the 15th. The Nova Scotia Eco-Efficiency Business Assistance Program

The Eco-Efficiency Business Assistance Program is an initiative to encourage eco-efficiency and pollution prevention in Nova Scotia. The program is available to eligible small and medium-sized companies to offset the cost of hiring a qualified consultant to identify pollution prevention and efficiency opportunities and options. The program will be a cost shared arrangement with the program contributing 75% (up to a maximum of $6000), and the company contributing the 25% balance. The total project cost will vary depending on the complexity of the manufacturing process, materials utilized and the availability of information. This is a pilot program starting in June of 2003.
