Hurricane Bulletins E-mail Subscription Service

Providing early warnings, Anytime a tropical storm or hurricane is threatening Canada is critical. In order to provide Canadians with information they need to protect themselves, their families and their property Environment Canada's Canadian Hurricane Centre is providing all its tropical storm and hurricane products free of charge by e-mail subscription.

Once you subscribe you will receive all Hurricane Information Statements, Hurricane Watches and Hurricane Warnings bulletins whenever they are issued by the Canadian Hurricane Centre.

New users can subscribe by reading the information below and then clicking on the button to the sign-up page.

Please note: If a major tropical storm or hurricane threatens Canada, you can expect to receive dozens of e-mails as all three products could be issued in sequence or simultaneously. For example: Hurricane Information Statements are issued every 6 hours anytime a storm enters the Canadian Hurricane Centre forecasting area. These Information statements quite often are issued days before a Hurricane Watch or Warning Bulletin is issued. Furthermore it is possible to have a Hurricane Watch for one part of Canada and a Hurricane Warning for another part so both products would then be e-mailed to you.

Please note that you should not rely totally on forecasts from this service because:

  • This is a new service that started on September 1, 2005 and interruptions are to be expected while we fine-tune the service.
  • This service may not be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Therefore the timely delivery of forecasts is not guaranteed.
  • As we continue developing the system we may have to limit the number of new subscribers. If we do have to limit subscriptions a notice will be posted to this page.
