Ship's Tonnage Survey and Measurement Fees Regulations

REGULATIONS RESPECTING THE FEES PAYABLE FOR

THE SURVEY AND MEASUREMENT OF THE

TONNAGE OF SHIPS

Short Title

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Ship's Tonnage Survey and Measurement Fees Regulations.

Interpretation

2. In these Regulations, "Act" means the Canada Shipping Act.

Fees

3. The fee payable for the survey and measurement of the tonnage of a ship is, for a ship having a gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of Schedule I, the fee set out in column II of the item.

4. The fee payable for the verification of tonnage calculations performed by a surveyor of ships, for a ship having a gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of Schedule I, is one-half of the fee set out in column II of that item.

5. (1) Where a ship undergoes alterations below the upper deck, the fee payable for the survey and remeasurement of the tonnage of the ship is, for a ship having a gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of Schedule I, the fee set out in column II of the item.

(2) Where a ship undergoes alterations above the upper deck, the fee payable for the survey and remeasurement of the tonnage of the ship is, for a ship having a gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of Schedule I, the lesser of $400 and the fee set out in column III of the item.

(3) Where a ship undergoes alterations both below and above the upper deck simultaneously, the fee payable for the survey and remeasurement of the tonnage of the ship is, for a ship having a gross tonnage set out in column I of an item of Schedule I, the fee set out in column II of the item.

6. The fee for a service set out in Column I of Schedule II is the fee set out opposite that service in Column II thereof.

7. In addition to the fees referred to in sections 3 to 6, the fee payable for the survey and the measurement or remeasurement of a ship, and for travelling time related to the survey and measurement or remeasurement, carried out during the hours set out in column I of an item of Schedule III is the greater of the fees set out in columns II and III of that item.

(4) Remeasurement of a foreign ship, including measurement of the underdeck, where the measurement is made in conjunction with the issuance of the Suez Canal Special Tonnage Certificate

the fee set out in column II of Schedule I for that ship

 

(5) Issuance of a certified copy of a Suez Canal Special Tonnage Certificate and related tonnage calculations:

(a) first five sheets

(b) each additional sheet

6.

Issuance of a statement of limitation of liability tonnage for:

(a) a Canadian ship or a British ship

(b) a foreign ship
