Marine forecasts issued by the Pacific Weather Centre of Environment
Canada at 4 PM PST Saturday 9 December 2006 for the period ending
4 PM Sunday with an outlook for the following 24 hours.
The next scheduled forecast will be issued at 9:30 PM PST.

Synopsis
    A weak front along the coast will dissipate tonight. A 992 
millibar low off the Oregon coast will move northward across
Central Vancouver Island Sunday afternoon. Another intense 970 
millibar low developing well offshore will move rapidly eastward
Into the southern Bowie region late Sunday.
    Over northern waters moderate southerly winds will rise to gale 
to storm force southeasterly Sunday afternoon ahead of the intense 
low. Strong to gale force northeasterly outflow winds will also 
develop near the mainland inlets Sunday morning.
    Over southern waters strong locally gale force southeasterly 
winds will ease to moderate this evening. Winds will rise again to 
strong to gale force southeast by Sunday morning. Near the northern 
tip of Vancouver Island winds will rise to gale to storm force 
southeasterly late in the day.

Forecast sea state values are combined wind wave and swell height.

    South coast

Strait of Georgia.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southeast 25 to gales 35 knots easing to 20 this evening
Then rising to southeast 25 to gales 35 Sunday morning. Showers.
Outlook. Gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate to strong 
southwest.

Howe Sound.
Winds light rising to northerly outflow 20 to 30 knots overnight
Then easing to 10 to 15 late Sunday morning. Showers.
Outlook. Light to moderate variable winds rising to strong southerly 
inflow.

Haro strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast 25 to gales 35 
Sunday morning. Showers.
Outlook. Gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate to strong 
southwest.

Juan de Fuca strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds easterly 10 to 20 knots except southerly 20 to 30 near the 
entrances early this evening. Winds rising to easterly 20 to 25 
overnight except southeast gales 35 near the entrances. Showers.
Outlook. Strong to gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate 
to strong southwest.

Johnstone strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southeast 10 to 20 knots rising to 25 to gales 35 early this 
evening then easing to 15 to 20 late this evening. Winds rising to 
southeast 25 to gales 35 late Sunday morning. Showers.
Outlook. Gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate to strong 
southerly.

Queen Charlotte strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southeast 15 to 25 knots rising to 30 Sunday morning and to 
gales 40 late Sunday afternoon. Showers.
Outlook. Gale to storm force southeasterly winds easing to moderate 
to strong southerly.

West Coast Vancouver Island North.
Storm warning issued.
Winds westerly 10 to 20 knots easing to light this evening. Winds 
rising to southeast 20 to 30 overnight and to gales 40 to storm
Force 50 late Sunday afternoon. Showers.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 4 Sunday morning and to 4 to 5 
Sunday afternoon.
Outlook. Storm force southeasterly winds easing to gale force 
southwest then to moderate to strong southerly.

West Coast Vancouver Island South.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southwesterly 25 to gales 35 knots except southeast 25 near 
shore early this evening. Winds easing to variable 5 to 15 this 
evening then rising to easterly 25 to gales 35 overnight. Winds 
shifting to southwest 20 to 30 Sunday afternoon. Periods of rain. 
Seas near 3 metres building to 4 Sunday afternoon.
Outlook. Winds rising to gale force southeasterly then easing to 
moderate to strong southwest.

    North coast

Queen Charlotte Sound.
Storm warning issued.
Winds southerly 10 to 15 knots rising to easterly 15 to 25 early 
Sunday morning and to southeast 30 near noon. Winds rising to gales 
40 to storm force 50 late Sunday afternoon. A few showers.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 4 early Sunday morning and to 5 
to 6 Sunday afternoon.
Outlook. Storm force southeasterly winds shifting to gale to storm 
force southwest then easing to moderate to strong southerly.

Central coast from McInnes Island to Pine Island.
Gale warning issued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast 20 to 30 Sunday 
morning and to gales 40 Sunday afternoon. Winds northeasterly outflow 
30 near mainland inlets on Sunday. Showers.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 4 Sunday morning and to 5 Sunday 
afternoon.
Outlook. Winds rising to storm force southeasterly then easing to 
gale force southwest then to moderate southerly.

Hecate strait.
Storm warning issued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast 25 to 30 Sunday 
morning and to gales 40 to storm force 50 late Sunday afternoon.
A few showers.
Seas one to 2 metres building to 3 to 4 in the south Sunday morning 
and to 4 to 5 throughout Sunday afternoon.
Outlook. Storm force southeasterly winds shifting to gale to storm 
force southwest then easing to moderate southerly.

Dixon entrance east.
Gale warning issued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast gales 35 Sunday 
afternoon. Near mainland inlets winds northeasterly outflow 15 to
25 knots rising to gales 35 Sunday afternoon. A few showers.
