Regional Enforcement and Emergencies Division

The Regional Enforcement and Emergencies Division (REED) is responsible for co-ordinating enforcement of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA) and the Fisheries Act. The division provides enforcement advice, legal support, and training to enforcement and compliance staff. REED also co-ordinates the preparation of regional enforcement plans and reports.

The Intelligence Section of REED collects, analyzes and disseminates intelligence to identify violations of CEPA, the Fisheries Act and associated regulations. The Regional Intelligence Program organizes and controls intelligence data on both domestic issues and international criminal or civil investigations.

The Emergencies Section of REED co-ordinates the emergency program in the region and represents the region at the national level. Key activities are based on the components of the national program: Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.
