Marine forecasts for the Great Lakes and the Ontario portion of the 
st.  Lawrence river issued by Environment Canada Ontario region
At 6.30 PM EST Saturday 9 December 2006 for the period ending at
6.30 PM Sunday with an outlook for the following 24 hours.
The next scheduled forecast will be issued at 3.00 AM Sunday.

Note..The small craft warning program is active from May 01 to 
October 31.

Winds are for mid lake.  Wave heights are for offshore and are 
forecast from trough to crest.  Nearshore winds and waves may vary 
considerably due to shoreline effects.

Western Lake Superior.
Wind southwest 25 knots diminishing to west 20 this evening and to 15 
near midnight. Wind diminishing to north 10 early Sunday morning then 
increasing to northeast 15 later Sunday morning and to east 20 Sunday 
afternoon. Fair. Waves near 2 metres lowering to 1 or less late this 
evening.
Outlook..Moderate to strong easterlies veering to southeasterlies.

Eastern Lake Superior.
Wind southwest 20 knots diminishing to west 15 near midnight and to 
northwest 10 overnight. Wind veering to north Sunday morning and to 
east Sunday near noon. Fair. Waves 1 to 2 metres lowering to 1 or 
less overnight.
Outlook..Light easterlies veering to southeasterlies then increasing 
to moderate to strong.

Whitefish bay.
Wind southwest 20 knots diminishing to 15 overnight and to 10 Sunday 
morning. Wind backing to southeast Sunday afternoon. Fair. Waves 1 
metre or less.
Outlook..Light southeasterlies increasing to moderate.

Northern Lake Huron
Northern Georgian Bay.
Wind southwest 25 knots veering to west late this evening.
Wind diminishing to 20 Sunday morning and to 15 Sunday afternoon. 
Fair then scattered showers developing late Sunday afternoon. Waves 2 
to 3 metres lowering to 1 to 2 Sunday morning and to 1 or less Sunday 
afternoon.
Outlook..Moderate westerlies backing to southwesterlies and to 
southerlies.

Southern Lake Huron
Southern Georgian Bay.
Wind southwest 30 knots diminishing to west 25 early Sunday morning 
and to 20 Sunday afternoon. Fair. Waves 2 to 3 metres lowering to 1 
to 2 Sunday morning and to near 1 late Sunday afternoon.
Outlook..Strong westerlies diminishing to moderate southwesterlies 
then backing to southerlies.

Lake St Clair.
Wind southwest 20 knots increasing to 30 this evening.
Wind diminishing to 25 Sunday morning and to 20 Sunday afternoon. 
Fair. Waves near 1 metre.
Outlook..Strong southwesterlies diminishing to moderate then backing 
to southerlies.

Western Lake Erie.
Wind southwest 25 knots increasing to 30 this evening.
Wind diminishing to 25 Sunday morning and to 20 Sunday afternoon. 
Fair. Waves 2 to 3 metres lowering to 1 to 2 late Sunday afternoon.
Outlook..Strong southwesterlies diminishing to moderate then backing 
to southerlies.

Gales southwest 35 knots veering to west overnight. Gales diminishing 
to wind 30 Sunday morning and to 25 Sunday afternoon. Fair.
Waves near 3 metres building to 3 to 4 overnight then lowering to 2 
to 3 late Sunday afternoon.
Outlook..Strong westerlies diminishing to moderate then backing to 
southerlies.

Kingston to Cornwall.
Wind southwest 15 to 20 knots diminishing to 10 Sunday afternoon.

Outlook..Light southwesterlies becoming variable.

to west ridge average pressure 1028 MB through high.  991 MB low over 
Hudson Bay with trough average pressure 1002 MB extending south from 
low to western Lake Superior.  1005 MB low over South Dakota.
  By 6.30 PM Sunday..Broad 1034 MB high over western North Carolina. 
Trough average pressure 1018 MB extending from southern Québec 
through Sault Ste Marie to 1014 MB low over southern Minnesota.
1028 MB high over Northern Ontario with east to west ridge average 
pressure 1020 MB through high.
