Notice No. DGTP-007-2006 — Petition to the Governor in Council concerning Telecom Decision CRTC 2006-15

Notice is hereby given that a petition from Aliant Telecom Inc., Bell Canada, Saskatchewan Telecommunications and Telus Communications Company has been received by the Governor in Council (GIC) under section 12 of the Telecommunications Act with respect to the following decision issued by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC): Telecom Decision CRTC 2006-15, Forbearance from the regulation of retail local exchange services. The petitioners request that the GIC refer Telecom Decision CRTC 2006-15 back to the CRTC for reconsideration. The request is based on several reasons included in the petition.

In Telecom Decision CRTC 2006-15, the CRTC set out the details of the framework for forbearance from the regulation of local exchange services.

Submissions regarding this petition should be addressed to the Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet, Langevin Block, 80 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A3.
