Remediation Technologies Program

The Remediation Technologies Program (RTP) was started in 1990 and currently operates under Environment Canada's initiative, the Great Lakes 2000 Cleanup Fund . This funding program was created in response to the Canada-United States Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement . This agreement commits both countries to the virtual elimination of persistent toxic substances from the Great Lakes ecosystem.

The Goals of RTP are to:

  • identify, demonstrate and evaluate innovative technologies which have both environmental and economical application in full-scale remediation projects in identified Areas of Concern (AOC) within the Great Lakes Region
  • to provide the opportunity for Canadian companies to commercialize and market successful technologies globally.
