Ontario's Weather Forecast Regions have Changed!

Select an area on the map to view the public forecast regions for Ontario

On April 8, 2003, Environment Canada launched an improved public forecast service for Ontario, with redefined weather forecast regions.

There are two noticeable changes. The number of forecast regions in Ontario increased, and the names of the new forecast regions now include well-known local references to promote public recognition.

Each of these forecast regions can be divided into smaller sub-regions which will be used to pinpoint the areas at risk when weather warnings are issued. They will also be used to split a forecast when conditions are likely to vary significantly across a region. Where possible, reference names for all of the new regions were taken from the 2001 Official Road Map for Ontario to make them meaningful to both local residents and the travelling public. This will improve public recognition of the areas at risk during severe weather events.
