Ecosystem Initiatives

City of VancouverIn short an ecosystem initiative is an approach that enables Environment Canada and its partners to preserve the interconnected natural functions sustaining an ecologically significant geographic area, by planning and implementing concerted actions in keeping with sustainable development principles.

In addition to Georgia Basin Action Plan, Environment Canada works with a broad spectrum of governments and communities of interest in pursuit of shared objectives in five other ecosystem initiatives across Canada.
