As of November 30, 2006, a total of 466 of the 549 Port Programs facilities, across Canada, had been transferred, demolished or had their public harbour status terminated.

211 Declared public harbours were deproclaimed in June 1996 and
March 1999.
  40 Sites were transferred to provincial governments (Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Quebec and Ontario).
  65 Sites were transferred to other federal departments.
  124 Sites were divested to local interests.
   8 Port facilities were demolished.
  18 Sites where Transport Canada's interest has been terminated.
