Notice No. SMBR-002-04 - Amendment to Broadcast Procedures and Rules Part 7 (BPR 7), Issue 2

Industry Canada announces the publication of Broadcasting Procedures and Rules Part 7 Issue 2. Issue 2 supersedes the existing Broadcasting Procedures and Rules Part 7, Issue 1, Draft, dated June 2000.

The purpose of the amendment is to provide guidelines on proposed new NTSC assignments, and to provide clarifications on the status of the associated DTV allotment in the DTV Allotment Plan, on the use of DTV emission masks, and on the short-spacing procedures. The new BPR-7 also contains corrections to the tables of separation distances to account for interference on the far side of the service contours.

Issue 2 of BPR-7 may be used during the comment period to prepare applications for television broadcasting undertakings.

Interested parties should submit their comments no later than 90 days following the publication of this notice. Shortly after the close of the comment period, all comments received will be posted on Industry Canada's Spectrum Management and Telecommunications Web site at: http://strategis.gc.ca/spectrum.
