Notice No. SMSE-006-03

Notice is hereby given that Industry Canada is releasing Radio Standards Specification 193 (RSS-193), which sets out minimum requirements for the certification of radio transmitters and receivers for multipoint and point-to-point communication systems (abbreviated as MCS), including one-way and two-way video and data (e.g. Instructional Television (ITV), video conferencing and multimedia), operating in the 2.1 GHz, 2.5 GHz and 2.6 GHz bands. This new RSS is:

Radio Standards Specifications 193 (RSS-193), Issue 1, Multipoint and Point-to-Point Communication Systems (MCS) in the Fixed Service Operating in the 2150-2160 MHz, 2500-2596 MHz and 2686-2690 MHz Bands.

Notice is also given that Industry Canada is releasing Radio Standards Specification 141 (RSS 141), which sets out minimum requirements for the certification of radio transmitters and receivers for the aeronautical mobile service operating in the 117.975-137 MHz used for communication. This new RSS is:

Radio Standards Specifications 141 (RSS-141), Issue 1, Aeronautical Radiocommunication Equipment in the Frequency Band 117.975-137 MHz.

Notice is also given that Industry Canada is amending Radio Standards Specification 131 (RSS 131), which sets out minimum requirements for the certification of zone enhancers (i.e. booster amplifiers) and band translators (i.e. a zone enhancer with a frequency band change) for the land mobile service, excluding those for the broadcasting service. The amended version is:

Radio Standards Specifications 131 (RSS-131), Issue 2, Zone Enhancers for the Land Mobile Service.

The above documents will come into force as of the date of publication of this notice. The preface of each document contains a general description of its contents. These documents have been coordinated with the Radio Advisory Board of Canada (RABC).

The Radio Equipment Technical Standards Lists will be amended to reflect the above change.

Interested parties should submit their comments within 90 days of the date of publication of this notice. Shortly after the close of the comment period, all comments received will be posted on the Spectrum Management and Telecommunications Web site at http://strategis.gc.ca/spectrum.
