Using single channel, dual polarization, and polarimetric SAR, and image data fusion techniques to support a variety of investigations relating to the sea, scientists at CCRS are examining coastal zone wind retrieval including the validation of high wind speed algorithms for hurricanes; exploring the opportunities presented by dual polarization and polarimetric SAR for ship detection, ship classification, ocean wave retrieval; and monitoring changes to the coastal and inter-tidal zones, as well as maritime boundary issues.
