Exo/Astrobiology:
The search for life, either extinct or extant, on Solar System
bodies beyond Earth is of the highest scientific interest and
possibly of the greatest potential impact on human society. Canadian
scientists are already studying meteorites of Martian origin, and
are major partners in new discoveries in the discipline of Exo/Astrobiology.
Every future mission to Mars and other Solar
System bodies will carry experiments to further our understanding on
the possible existence of water and life, either present or past. By
securing a place for our scientists on the international scene in
this discipline, we will position Canada for excellent scientific,
technological, and economic returns.
