State Of the Lakes Ecosystem Conference (SOLEC)

In order to report on the health of the Great Lakes basin ecosystem, SOLEC (State of the Lakes Ecosystem Conference) was formed. SOLEC is a binational series of conferences hosted by Environment Canada and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These conferences have been held so far in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002. SOLEC 2004 was the 6th biennial conference in which the governments of Canada and the United States of America assessed and reported on the condition of the Great Lakes basin ecosystem. The conference was held in Toronto, Canada from October 6-8, 2004.
