Passing stopped school buses big problem
 The Guardian
The Western School Board's supervisor of transportation says the number of driving offences in which motorists pass stopped school buses that have their stop signs and flashing lights activated has jumped barely two weeks into the school year.

"It is quite a surprise." said Bill Gillis, and a very disturbing trend.  Gillis said he heard of at least 10 incidents since the school year started..

Summerside Police Chief Ian Drummond says fines for traveling past buses stopped to let off or pick up children , which have their stop arms and lights activated have been increased to $500 under the Highway Traffic Act, with the loss of eight demerit points.
