Marine forecasts issued by the Pacific Weather Centre of Environment
Canada at 9:30 PM PST Saturday 9 December 2006 for the period ending 
9:30 PM Sunday with an outlook for the following 24 hours.
The next scheduled forecast will be issued at 4 AM PST.

Synopsis
    A 992 millibar low off the Oregon coast will move northward 
across central Vancouver Island Sunday afternoon. Another intense
970 millibar low developing well offshore will move rapidly eastward 
into the southern Bowie region late Sunday.
    Over northern waters moderate southerly winds will rise to gale 
to storm force southeasterly Sunday afternoon ahead of the intense 
low. Wind are likely to reach marginal hurricane force near
The headlands of northern Vancouver Sunday evening. Strong to gale 
force northeasterly outflow winds will also develop near the
Mainland inlets Sunday morning.
    Over southern waters moderate southeasterly winds rising to 
strong to gale force by Sunday morning.

Forecast sea state values are combined wind wave and swell height.

    South coast

Strait of Georgia.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southeast 20 knots rising to southeast 25 to gales 35 Sunday 
morning and to southeast gales 35 to 45 Sunday evening. Showers.
Outlook. Gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate to strong 
southwest.

Howe Sound.
Winds northerly outflow 20 to 30 knots easing to 10 to 15 late
Sunday morning. Winds rising to southerly inflow 15 to 25 Sunday 
evening. Periods of rain.
Outlook. Light to moderate variable winds rising to strong southerly 
inflow.

Haro strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast 25 to gales 35 
Sunday morning and to southeast gales 40 Sunday evening. Showers.
Outlook. Gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate to strong 
southwest.

Juan de Fuca strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds easterly 20 to 25 knots except southeast 25 to gales 35 near 
the entrances. Winds rising to southeasterly 30 gales 40 Sunday 
evening.
Showers.
Outlook. Strong to gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate 
to strong southwest.

Johnstone strait.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southeast 15 to 20 knots rising to 25 to gales 35 late Sunday 
morning rising to southeast gales 35 to 45 Sunday evening.
Showers.
Outlook. Gale force southeasterly winds easing to moderate to strong 
southerly.

Queen Charlotte strait.
Gale warning upgraded to storm warning.

West Coast Vancouver Island North.
Storm warning upgraded to hurricane force.
Winds southeast 20 to 30 knots rising to gale to storm force 40 to
50 Sunday afternoon and to storm to hurricane force 55 to 65
Sunday evening. Showers. Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 4
Sunday morning and to 4 to 5 Sunday afternoon.
Outlook. Storm force southeasterly winds easing to gale force 
southwest then to moderate to strong southerly.

West Coast Vancouver Island South.
Gale warning continued.
Winds easterly 15 knots veering to southeast 20 to 30 knots
Sunday afternoon and rising to southeast gales 35 to 40
Sunday evening. Periods of rain.
Seas near 3 metres building to 4 Sunday afternoon.
Outlook. Winds gale force southeasterly then easing to

    North coast

Queen Charlotte Sound.
Storm warning continued.
Winds southerly 15 knots rising to easterly 20 to 30 Sunday

Central coast from McInnes Island to Pine Island.
Gale warning upgraded to storm warning.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast 30 to gales 40 
Sunday afternoon and to gales 40 to storm force 50 Sunday evening. 
Perods of rain.
Seas 2 to 3 metres building to 3 to 4 Sunday morning and to 5 to 7 
Sunday evening.
Outlook. Winds storm force southeasterly then easing to gale force 
southwest then to moderate southerly.

Hecate strait.
Storm warning continued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast 25 to 30 Sunday 
morning and to gales 40 to storm force 50 late Sunday afternoon.
Wind rising to storm force 50 to 60 Sunday evening. Periods of rain. 
Seas one to 2 metres building to 3 to 4 in the south Sunday morning 
and to 4 to 5 throughout Sunday afternoon and to 6 to 8 Sunday 
evening.
Outlook. Storm force southeasterly winds shifting to gale to storm 
force southwest then easing to moderate southerly.

Dixon entrance east.
Gale warning continued.
Winds southerly 10 to 20 knots rising to southeast gales 35 Sunday 
afternoon and to southeast gales 45 Sunday evening. Near
Mainland inlets winds northeasterly outflow 15 to 25 knots rising to 
gales 35 Sunday afternoon. Showers.

South Sunday afternoon and to 6 to 8 Sunday evening.

Northwestern half..Winds light rising to southeast 10 to 20 knots

evening.
Southeastern half..Winds easterly 25 to gales 35 knots shifting to 
westerly 25 to gales 35 Sunday morning. Winds backing to southerly
