RIVERHURST FERRY INFORMATION

• The Riverhurst Ferry is in operation.
• Effective November 1, 2006 hours of service for the Riverhurst Ferry are as follows:
  • open 6 a.m. to midnight
  • closed midnight until 6 a.m.
  The Riverhurst Staff is available for emergency service at 631-9023 during closed hours. The reason for the change is to reduce the stresses on the drive system through the November-December period.
  
• There will be a scheduled maintenance shutdown of the Riverhurst Ferry during the week of November 6, 2006. This shutdown is for preventative maintenance to mitigate the risk of further breakdowns.The ferry’s reliability has been unacceptable during the 2006 construction season. Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation, along with marine engineers, have developed a long-term plan to restore reliable service. A replacement drive system will be installed this winter. Besides the scheduled shutdown, an inventory of critical parts has been built up to minimize service disruption in the interim. The Riverhurst Ferry will officially close for the season in late December, depending on weather conditions.
