Overview

Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation's major responsibilities include the following:

  • Plans, designs, builds, operates, and maintains provincial highways and other government-owned/supported infrastructure.
  • Provides driver education, licensing standards, and traffic safety programs and manages driver records and problem drivers.
  • Manages central services to all government departments including accommodation requirements, property acquisition and sale, leasing, air transportation and vehicle fleet operations.
  • Supports the provision of schools, post-secondary institutions, health facilities, seniors' lodges, municipal transportation, and municipal water/wastewater treatment and distribution.
