Appointed by the Lieutenant-Governor as provided
under the Land Survey Act, the Chief Surveyor is responsible for
maintaining a cadastral infrastructure. that sustains security
of land tenure thereby promoting secure economic development and
prosperity in the province.

Legislative responsibilities include maintenance
of the provincial survey reference system, reviewing survey plans
prepared under the Condominium Act and Oil and Natural Gas Act,
providing as alternative to resolving boundary uncertainties
(Boundary Disputes), and providing counsel and guidance on property
related matters.

The Chief Surveyor as a licensed land surveyor, is also a part of a
specialized team within the Department of Transportation and Public
Works providing timely and efficient land and engineering services
primarily for the Department as well as all other government departments
and agencies.
