Who We Are

Policy Development (AARPC), as part of Transport Canada’s Safety and Security Group, Civil Aviation Directorate, is the primary contact point for the Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing Branch (M&M) to the Canadian Aviation Regulatory Advisory Council (CARAC). We are responsible for the development of M&M policy in all areas, which includes the drafting of regulations and standards where M&M is the Office of Prime Interest or Office of Technical Interest. In relation to this role we oversee the issuance of exemptions relating to our areas of responsibility. In addition, we are responsible for international regulatory activities related to policy development and harmonization.

As these activities may result in the promulgation of M&M Policy Letters, this division is also responsible for policy promotion, the production and distribution of all documents relating to Aircraft Maintenance and Manufacturing including the delegation of authority program. Finally, our division also looks after the development, and on-going maintenance of the branch website.
