ECBC Support Helps Festivals and Events in Richmond County

Richmond County, NS
– A wide variety of festivals and events in Richmond County have received financial support from Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC), through its Festivals and Events program. ECBC has committed a total of $185,885 to 47 different projects across Cape Breton Island and Mulgrave. In Richmond County, $25,000 has been committed to seven local events.

Rick Beaton, Vice-President of ECBC, indicated that ECBC offered funding up to $7,500 to festivals and events that showed they would have a positive impact on the Island economy. The festivals and events themselves also had to be both viable and sustainable.

“This program is important to grow the tourism and culture industries on the Island,” says Rodger Cuzner, MP for Bras d’Or-Cape Breton, on behalf of the Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State for ECBC. “Festivals and events reflect our unique heritage and are an important part of our culture.”

“Festivals and events bring communities and tourists together and help foster the great spirit present on the Island,” comments Rick Beaton, of ECBC. “Whether it be a music festival or Acadian celebration, each contributes greatly to the pride we have in Cape Breton Island.”

The Festivals and Events program is designed to build capacity and provide quality attractions that will enhance both the tourism and arts and culture sectors on Cape Breton Island.

The seven projects in Richmond County that will receive non-repayable funding under the Festivals and Events program are:
