Mulgrave Company to Receive Government of Canada Support

Mulgrave, N.S.
-- The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State responsible for Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC) and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced Government of Canada funding for East Coast Hydraulics and Machinery Limited of Mulgrave, N.S.

East Coast Hydraulics and Machinery Limited’s operations include hydraulic engineering, installation and sales, steel fabrication and industrial repairs. The assistance will help to build a new 10,000 square foot facility creating a larger manufacturing and storage space. An overall improved layout will enhance efficiency.

“This support will give East Coast Hydraulics and Machinery the ability to increase its capacity,” says Rodger Cuzner, MP for Bras d’Or-Cape Breton, on behalf of Minister Byrne. “From an economic development perspective, it will add infrastructure to the Mulgrave area and allow the company to take advantage of the potential that is being created by the offshore oil and gas industry.”

“We are expanding our operation to provide better products and services to our customers” says Dana Feltmate, President of East Coast Hydraulics and Machinery Limited. “This expansion will allow us to build on our expertise in the field and to create new jobs in the Strait area.”

East Coast Hydraulics and Machinery Limited has operated in the Mulgrave area for more than 14 years. It has gained a solid reputation in the Atlantic Region as a provider of hydraulic services.

The total estimated cost of the project is $806,560. Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation will provide a repayable contribution of $400,000 through ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP). The project is expected to create nine new jobs while maintaining 23.

Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation offers programs in support of economic development initiatives and is responsible for delivering ACOA's programs on Cape Breton Island and in the Mulgrave area.
