Sydney, N.S.
– The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State responsible for Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC) and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced today the appointment of Gary Corsano of Sydney to the ECBC Board of Directors.

“ECBC has an important role to play in the growth and development of the
Cape Breton Island economy, and board members must know and understand the community,” said Minister Byrne. “Mr. Corsano, along with the other members of the board, brings professional expertise and a passion for the growth and development of the Island. I am pleased that he has agreed to serve the community as a member of the ECBC Board of Directors.”

He practices in the areas of civil litigation, business, employment and labour, health, oil and gas, administrative and aboriginal law.

Mr. Corsano has served as past president of the Nova Scotia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association and as a member of its national executive committee. He is a member of both the Nova Scotia and the Cape Breton Barristers’ Societies.

An active community volunteer, Mr. Corsano is the past president of the Kiwanis Club of Sydney and past secretary of Junior Achievement Cape Breton. He is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the University College of Cape Breton and Commodore of the Royal Cape Breton Yacht Club.
