Cabot Shores Offers Unique Visitor Experience
Indian Brook, NS – Government of Canada assistance toward the
establishment of a new and unique tourism facility was announced today by
the Honourable Mark Eyking, MP for Sydney-Victoria on behalf of the
Honourable Joseph McGuire, Minister for Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC)
and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
Cabot Shores Adventure and Retreat Centre, located on the Cabot Trail at
Indian Brook, offers top quality accommodations and services. The Canada
Select four-star village has a main lodge with seven units, a multipurpose
activity room and a dining area. Nestled among the trees are four private
cottages. There are over 22 campsites along the edge of the brook, offering
visitors a wilderness experience with access to the amenities of the main
lodge.
“This project contributes to the full array of vacation experiences
available on the Island and gives visitors reason to stay longer. That’s
good for the economy,” says MP Eyking. “The developers are to be commended
on their vision and commitment to the Cape Breton tourism industry.”
In addition to top quality accommodations, Cabot Shores makes the most of
its 55-acre property with ocean and river frontage. Canoes, bicycles,
hiking, swimming, fishing and guided boat tours are all available. There is
also a project to build a Mi’kmaq village where guests will enjoy native
crafts, story telling, dance, and singing and participate in the
construction of an authentic wigwam lodge led by native guides.
During the summer months, trained professionals lead youth and family camps
in arts and culture and various recreational activities. The goal is to
attract people from all walks of life, including couples, families,
eco-tourists, cyclists and youth.
“Our guests tell us that Cape Breton adventures are fun, safe and
challenging, offering them great times and memories,” says Paul Weinberg,
President of Indian Brook Adventures, owners and operators of Cabot Shores.
“Guests love that the adventures invigorate them, while the connection with
nature and other people gives them the opportunity to kick back and relax
and recharge in a spectacular setting with access to quality services and
amenities. We are pleased to have this opportunity to contribute positively
to the future of Cape Breton Island and to make it a great destination for
all four seasons!”
In addition to assisting with capital costs, funding for this initiative
will help initially to create 5 new jobs. Total cost of the project is
$1,050,000. Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation will provide a repayable
contribution of $337,500 through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s
Business Development Program.
Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation offers programs in support of economic
development initiatives and is responsible for delivering ACOA's programs on
Cape Breton Island and in the Mulgrave area.
