CITY PRINTERS BOOSTS ITS COMPETITIVENESS
Sydney, N.S. – City Printers Limited (CPL) will increase its
competitiveness as a result of Government of Canada funding announced today
by the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of
the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
The funding has allowed CPL to purchase necessary equipment and construct an
addition to its current facility. The project also helped to modernize
existing technology and keep CPL on the competitive edge.
“Our government is committed to building a strong, competitive Atlantic
Canada,” said Minister Peter MacKay. “We recognize that small and medium
sized businesses are a major force in the region, driving economic growth,
community development, and job creation.”
“The new equipment allows us to stay competitive in an ever-changing
market,” says CPL President Blair Oake. “Furthermore, this funding will help
us secure 22 existing jobs and may open the door for three additional
full-time positions.”
The total cost of the project was $1,300,000. The company received a
repayable contribution of $500,000 from ECBC through ACOA’s Business
Development Program.
CPL provides full-service commercial printing, which includes pre-press,
press, bindery and publishing.
Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation offers programs in support of economic
development initiatives and is responsible for delivering ACOA’s programs on
Cape Breton Island and in the Mulgrave area.
