Tips on navigating this site

The Pacific and Yukon Region website has recently undergone some changes in content and structure. New information has been added, and some removed or changed. The most obvious difference in all the pages is the way they contain information and navigation links. There are typically four or five sections to each page. The central, largest area - the one containing the text you're now reading - is reserved for the main content of each page. There may or may not be a smaller sidebar to the right, containing further information or links specific to the present topic. Then there are the three navigation sectors, dedicated to helping you access the broad range of resources available through Environment Canada.

Getting Around

The top navigation bar contains links to both national and regional Environment Canada pages. The black boxes at the top are useful for guiding you to content located outside the Pacific and Yukon Region web site pages. The green row of boxes links to several areas on the national Green Lane website. The information available here ranges from an explanation of how various topics are arranged on the Green Lane, to a list of links for publications produced by Environment Canada. There is also a list of links to all the other regional Environment Canada websites, with their own abundance of facts, news, and locally specific knowledge.

Below the top two rows is a drop-down menu with a selection of links to some of the programs and information clearing-houses of the Pacific and Yukon Region. This bears some of the same links as the left side navigation bar.

The left side navigation bar is an outlay of all the major areas within the Pacific and Yukon Region Environment Canada website. Examine this list for any program you are interested in. If these are too specific for you, or don't appear to provide exactly what you want, try the four 'Air', 'Nature', 'Water', and 'Climate Change' links. As well as containing their own set of unique web pages, these sections provide links to other locations dealing with the same topic.

The bottom navigation bar contains the same links as the top navigation bar but in text link format to provide accessibility for all users.

If the on-page navigational tools haven't shown you the way, then check out our site map. This page details more specifically the individual pages of the Pacific and Yukon Region website.
