Twenty years of conservation co-operation

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan. Over the past two decades, $1.2 billion has been raised under the plan to secure and enhance 2.3 million hectares of waterfowl habitat in Canada.

Satellite program aims to reduce marine pollution
The Canadian Ice Service has taken a significant step forward in the battle against marine pollution by assuming operational responsibility of the Integrated Satellite Tracking of Pollution (ISTOP) program – a satellite surveillance program used to detect illegal discharges of oil in Canadian waters.

Wildlife officers handle dangerous cross-border creatures
Wildlife enforcement officers are called on to handle an array of animals that accidentally arrive in Canada via shipping containers. One of their most dangerous cases involved a rare type of extremely poisonous snake, found in a container of seeds transported from Israel.
