One of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency's (ACOA)
main goals is to help build economic capacity in Atlantic Canada by investing
in communities. ACOA works with people using local strengths, creativity
and resources to:
- create sustainable jobs;
- increase the availability of business capital;
- strengthen the co-ordination and co-operation between Atlantic community development partners;
- strengthen the community strategic planning process; and
- encourage community ownership and empowerment in community economic development activities.
