Working With France Main ACOA and the Republic of France are undertaking to enhance regional cooperation between the Atlantic provinces and the French territory of St. Pierre and Miquelon. The Agency is working to identify areas of possible cooperation: such as the environment, tourism, transportation, trade, law enforcement, cultural relations, communications, sports, teaching, health, and agriculture.
 
St. Pierre and Miquelon France To permit this to happen, a Joint Cooperation Commission was created between the government of Canada and the government of the Republic of France. The Agreement, signed on December 2, 1994, stipulates that a Joint Cooperation Commission be created with a mandate to study means of cooperation between parties and to oversee its implementation. The Commission meets once a year, alternating between the Atlantic Provinces and St. Pierre and Miquelon.

There have been four meetings since the signing of the agreement. After each meeting a Joint Communiqué is established and signed by both parties.

  • the economic and social councilor of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon
  • the economic and social chambre of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon
  • the economic diversification commissioner (coordination on the French side)

  • SODEPAR is the economic development agency for the islands of St. Pierre and Miquelon.
  • Development Agency of Saint-Pierre & Miquelon
*The membership may vary according to the issues brought to the attention of the Joint Coorperation Commission.
