Marine Pollutants in Packaged FormInternational requirements for the prevention of pollution from marine pollutants in packaged form are contained in Annex III of MARPOL, Regulations for the Prevention of Pollution by Harmful Substances Carried by Sea in Packaged Forms, or in Freight Containers, Portable Tanks or Road and Rail Tank Wagons. Annex III contains requirements for packaged harmful substances concerning packing, marking, labeling, documenting, stowing, quantity limitations, restriction on discharging and notifying authorities.

Canada formally acceded to Annex III on August 8, 2002. The provisions in Annex III of MARPOL have been incorporated into Canadian legislation in the Dangerous Goods Shipping Regulations
