The Canadian Agricultural Skills Service (CASS) can help Canadian farm families improve farm profitability and their income options. CASS provides funding to beginning and established farmers and their spouses to develop a learning plan and take courses to help them gain the skills they need to reach their goals.

Employment Insurance (EI) provides temporary financial assistance for unemployed Canadians while they look for work or upgrade their skills, as well as Canadians who are sick, pregnant or caring for a newborn or adopted child, or need to care for a family member who is seriously ill with a significant risk of death. Human Resources and Skills Development Canada(HRSDC) and Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) work to ensure that foreign workers will support economic growth in Canada and help create job opportunities for all Canadians.

  • Arranged Employment for Skilled Workers: A positive HRSDC Arranged Employment Opinion supports the permanent immigration of a Skilled Worker and is one factor that Citizenship and Immigration Canada considers when reviewing a Skilled Worker application for permanent residency.

    ** Please note that a positive HRSDC Arranged Employment decision only supports the Skilled Workers application for permanent residency, but will not result in CIC issuing a Work Permit and does not authorize the person to work in Canada before becoming a permanent resident.

  • International Benefits - Application Forms for Canadian Benefits: If you have lived or worked in another country, or you are the surviving spouse or common-law partner of someone who has lived or worked in another country, you may be eligible for benefits from Canada. Additional application forms for benefits from Canada, under social security agreements, will be posted as they become available. If the application form for Canadian benefits for the country in which you reside is not yet available on this site, please contact your nearest social security office to obtain one.

  • Dispute Resolution and Labour-Management Partnership Program: The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) is responsible for providing dispute resolution and dispute prevention assistance to trade unions and employers under the jurisdiction of the Canada Labour Code. It also manages the Labour-Management Partnerships Program, which provides seed funding for innovative projects designed to improve labour-management relationships.

  • Fire Prevention: The Fire Prevention staff, as the federal government's technical authority on fire protection, are responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Treasury Board policy, standards and those codes and regulations that cover fire protection under the Canada Labour Code.

  • Labour Standards and Workplace Equity: The Labour Standards and Workplace Equity Directorate is a national clearinghouse of Employment Equity technical expertise. We provide information to employers on equal pay and employment equity as well as offer tools and resources for the implementation of employment equity in the workplace. The Employment Equity Computerized Reporting System (EECRS) provides a fast and easy way for the user to capture and compile employee data, then generates the Employment Equity Forms required by the Division. As a precaution, we have also supplied you with a blank version of each form on this site.

The National Homelessness Initiative (NHI) is a community-led federal initiative, aiming to break the cycle of homelessness by helping people move out of the cycle of homelessness, preventing those at risk from falling into homelessness and reducing dependency on emergency shelters and services by emphasizing transitional and supportive housing.
