Computer Systems Analysts analyze information processing or computation needs; design computer systems which provide solutions to these problems or perform the needed computations; analyze databases; and supervise computer programmers. Computer Systems Analysts are employed in computer consulting firms and in computer systems units throughout the private and public sectors.
A bachelor's degree, usually in computer science, mathematics, commerce or business administration or Completion of a college program in computer science is usually required. Experience as a computer programmer is usually required. Specialization in commercial or engineering and scientific applications requires specific post-secondary study or experience. Supervisory and senior positions in this unit group require experience.
