Old Age Security Program
Where can I apply for Old Age Security?At age 65, everyone who meets Canada's citizenship and legal residence requirements is entitled to an Old Age Security Pension. Also provided under the Old Age Security program are:
- the Guaranteed Income Supplement, for people 65 and over who have a lower income;
- the Allowance, payable to a person between the ages of 60 and 64, provided their spouse is 65 or over and receives the Guaranteed Income Supplement;
- the Allowance for the survivor between the ages of 60 and 64 who have a low income.
Human Resources and Skills Development Canada automatically sends the form to seniors who have filed a federal income tax return in recent years or who have contributed to the Canada Pension Plan.

Old Age Security Application Kit
For persons aged 65 or older who wish to apply for their Old Age Security Pension. The Old Age Security pension is a benefit payable to most Canadians age 65 and over who meet the Canadian residence requirements. This application can be completed on-screen. It must then be printed, signed and returned by mail with all required documents. Forms included: Information Sheet for the Old Age Security pension, Application for the Old Age Security pension and Return Address Listing.
