DECODING THE TANK CODES

Where to get the required documents

 

What documents are required to design, install, maintain, operate and remove petroleum storage tanks from an environmental perspective?

For underground petroleum and allied petroleum tanks, three documents are required:

  1. Registration of Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products on Federal Lands Regulations
  2. Technical Guidelines for Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products
  3. CCME PN 1055 Environmental Code of Practice for Underground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum and Allied Petroleum Products

For aboveground petroleum tanks, three documents are also required:

  1. Registration of Storage Tank Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products on Federal Lands Regulations
  2. Technical Guidelines for Aboveground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum Products
  3. CCME PN 1148 Environmental Code of Practice for Aboveground Storage Tank Systems Containing Petroleum Products
