TDC’s air transportation program is designed to improve the safety, efficiency, and
competitiveness of Canadian aviation. It focusses on:
- work in support of federal policy decisions
- cooperative activities to ensure harmonization of international aviation R&D;
- studies to provide a basis for the development of regulations and standards for crew
training and operations, as well as for materials and equipment
- development of innovative technologies, equipment, and research expertise in advanced
concepts and meteorology
- development of technological means to improve accident prevention and survivability
- investigation of operations in Canada’s severe winter conditions
- development of improvements to airport operations, from runway management to advanced
air navigation systems
- studies of human factors in all areas of aviation
