If you have diabetes, know someone who does, or simply want to learn more about diabetes, you will find many helpful articles in this section. You can learn about the types of diabetes, living with and managing diabetes and information on diabetes in Canada and around the world.
Diabetes Facts
Over 2 million Canadians have diabetes. This page outlines the three types of diabetes, the seriousness of the disease, the symptoms, the risks, how it is treated, how you know if you have it and if can it be prevented.

Banting House
Banting House National Historic Site celebrates not only a great Canadian discovery, but the life and career of a truly great Canadian - Sir Frederick Grant Banting (1891-1941).
Nutrition
Healthy eating and watching your weight are important to help manage your diabetes. This section will help you to develop a basic understanding of concepts such as carbohydrate counting, reading food labels, and artificial sweeteners.
Insulin and Diabetes Medications
Type 1 diabetes always requires daily injections of insulin. Type 2 diabetes is controlled through exercise and meal planning and may require medications and/or insulin to assist the body in making or using insulin more effectively.
This section will explore the different types of insulin and injection devices as well as oral medications.
Complications
Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are serious diseases, and can lead to the same complications. However, you can do many things to stay well. These potential complications are discussed in this section.
Children and Diabetes
When a child is diagnosed with diabetes, families must learn how to manage the condition on a daily basis. In order to help a child manage his or her diabetes, parents and caregivers will have information to absorb and skills to practice.
