United Ostomy Association
The United Ostomy Association of Canada Inc. shall be a volunteer-based health organization dedicated to assisting people who have had or will have intestinal or urinary tract diversions by providing psychological support and educational services; support to the family unit; and promoting the services of the organization to the public, professional communities and all levels of government.
Self-Help Support Group
We are a support group for people who have had ostomy surgery and many of our members have had surgery similar to yours. We recognize how important reliable, sensitive information is to you. With this in mind, we are very pleased to be able to provide booklets, "Guide To Living with Colostomy", "Guide To Living with Ileostomy", "Guide To Living with Urostomy". These booklets are produced by the Canadian Association of Enterostomal Therapy nurses. We are also available to do hospital visits or to talk on the telephone "as someone who has been there".
You too may become a member of our association if you wish. With a membership with the PEI Chapter of the United Ostomy Associatin of Canada you would receive a quarterly magazine, newsletters, opportunity to attend quartely local chapter meetings, and annual national conferences. As well, a wide assortment of books, brochures, and videos are available. Meetings are held the first Monday of the months of March, June, September, December from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. at Brecken House, Prince Edward Home.
Youth Camp
Children between the ages of 9 and 18 are sponsored by local chapters and private donations to attend a Youth Camp during the summer.
