Palliative Care Program Where can I find information about the Palliative Care Program?Palliative care is the combination of active and compassionate therapies intended to comfort and support individuals who are living with or dying from a progressive life threatening illness, their families and the bereaved. The goal of the Palliative Care Program is to enhance client and family options for palliative care through access to trained, qualified health care teams in the most appropriate setting including the home, long term care, and the hospital.
Palliative care is available through Home Care and Support offices in health regions in PEI. Care may include medical, nursing and other professional care for pain and symptom management; respite care; emotional support; spiritual support; counseling; and ongoing bereavement support after death of a loved one.
