Cleft Palate Orthodontic Treatment Funding Program Is there any funding available for children born with a cleft palate?Eligibility
Children born with a hard tissue cleft palate are eligible for partial funding for orthodontic treatments.
Providers
Orthodontic Specialists for early, intermediate or permanent dentition stages. Pediatric Dentists for early to intermediate stages.
Level of care
Early stages (obturator for feeding purposes in newborns), Intermediate stage (arch expansion at age 6-8, only where bone grafting is part of the overall treatment) and Late stage (permanent dentition fixed orthodontic treatment).
How to access service
- Parents must apply for coverage at each stage of treatment.
- Application forms can be obtained from the PEI orthodontists and pediatric dentist.
- Treatment is cost shared 50/50 with parents. Parents may be eligible for 75% or 100% coverage, depending on family income.
