ACOA's Performance Report to Parliament 1997
On November 6, 1997, the President of the Treasury Board tabled ACOA's 1997 Performance Report as part of a comprehensive reporting by all federal departments and agencies. ACOA had already tabled such a report on October 31, 1996, as part of a pilot project involving 16 departments and agencies.
The 1997 Report looks at ACOA's performance from three perspectives. The section on Departmental Performance looks at the Agency's impact on the Atlantic economy, specifically its impact on employment growth and survival rate of ACOA assisted enterprise. Secondly, it reports on achievements made against ACOA's key commitments outlined in the 1996-97 Main Estimates and Outlook documents, commitments which were also included in the President of the Treasury Board Report to Parliament, tabled on October 31, 1996. Thirdly, the Report looks at ACOA's increased role in trade as a result of closer linkages with Industry portfolio members and its increased focus on export-preparedness of potential exporters in the Atlantic region. Finally, the Report gives examples of the cooperative and partnerial approach to creating Alternate Service Delivery methods in its efforts to prevent overlap and duplication while providing services to all Atlantic regions.
