Inspections and Technical Services Section

The inspections and technical services section is responsible for carrying out inspections and field surveys to determine the compliance of industries and government agencies with regulations under the Fisheries Act and the Canadian Environmental Protection Act. Regulations include those for specific chemicals such as PCBs, and ozone depleting substances, as well as for industrial sectors such as pulp and paper, petroleum, mining and secondary lead. Regulations are also in place to control the international movement of hazardous wastes and other substances. A Regional Compliance Inspection Summary Report is published yearly to summarise the results of compliance inspections carried out in the Ontario Region. A national enforcement and compliance repor has also been prepared for six regulations.
