Subdivision Of Land

Subdivision means the division of a parcel of land from a larger parcel, usually to create one or more building lots, but could also be done for other reasons.

Before you subdivide, you will need municipal approval if your property is located in a community that has its own Official Plan and Zoning Bylaw.

The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs approves subdivisions in all other areas in accordance with the Subdivision and Development Regulations of the Planning Act, although there are some situations in which approval is unnecessary.

Contact a contact a Property Development Officer of the Planning and Inspection Services Division of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs at 31 Gordon Drive, Charlottetown or at one of the Access PEI sites.
