Licensing Requirements to Work in PEI

Physicians must obtain licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Prince Edward Island.

Basic Requirements:

1. MD Degree Certificate or Evidence of degree standing or other registrable qualifications

2. LMCC License - Qualifying Examination Part I and Part II

3. Family Medicine certificate or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certificate

4. Certificate of Standing from each jurisdiction in which the physician held a license or practised medicine in the previous five years. Certificates are only good for three months from the time they are dated by the issuing authority and should be sent directly to the College from the licensing body.

5. If being sponsored, a letter to the College confirming position, location and dates of work on P.E.I.

Additional Requirements (Original)

1. Complete application form

2. C.V. consisting of chronological list of professional appointments and qualifications

3. Notarized Photo (taken within the last three years)

4. Birth certificate ( or other evidence of date of birth)

5. Evidence of legal entitlement to live and work in Canada.
