Hiring Students

Where can I find information about hiring students?

The federal department of Human Resources Development Canada has Student Centres which are open May through August each year. These Centres help employers and students in their employment searches.

The Provincial Employment Development Agency also provides funding to employers who wish to hire youth between the ages of 16 and 29 on Prince Edward Island.

Jobs For Youth Program: Private Sector Employers Application

If you are a private sector employer and would like to create new employment opportunities for Island students, you may submit your application directly to the staff at the Employment Development Agency. If your application is approved, you will be reimbursed 50% of the hourly wage up to a maximum of $3.72 per hour for up to 40 hours a week for eight to twelve weeks. Please review the guidelines before applying.

If you are a non-profit organization and want to have Island students carry out projects of special significance to Island communitites, submit your application for funding here. The program is 100% funded by the Government of Prince Edward Island administered by the Employment Development Agency. Please review the guidelines before applying.
